Today I have a two-episode series featuring my friend Sandra Tindle. We dive deep into an honest and heartfelt conversation about the challenges kids face growing up in a digital world, one that seems designed to keep us addicted to constant distractions. What it means to raise or even consider having children in today’s uncertain times, and how religion is influencing the way we live, vote, and shape our beliefs. Sandra is a dedicated educator with over eleven years of teaching experience. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago and her master’s in English Language Learning from Western Governors University. She currently teaches English as a Second Language in Silver Spring, MD.

I first met Sandra on none other than Bumble BFF (LOL). At the time, I had just accepted that D.C. would be my permanent home and was hoping to make some new connections. Sandra ended up being my one and only success story from those apps HEHEH! I quit them after. What started as a spontaneous dinner in the city turned into a real and genuine friendship. I always look forward to our deep conversations, especially when she shares stories from her classroom and the patterns she’s noticing in today’s generation of kids.

In the first episode: Raising Kids in a Digital World: A Conversation with Sandra Tindle, we explore Sandra’s journey into education and what led her to specialize in ESL. She shares what it’s like working with children in today’s fast-paced, overstimulating world and how technology is changing the way kids interact, learn, and grow. We talk about how challenging it can feel to even think about raising kids during such uncertain times, and why having the right partner makes all the difference. Sandra’s reflections on the next generation are thoughtful, eye-opening, and rooted in a deep sense of care for her students. Whether you’re a parent, teacher, or someone simply curious about how society is shifting, this episode offers a lot of food for thought.

In the second episode: Faith, Politics & Finding Your Own Way: A Conversation with Sandra Tindle: Sandra and I dive into a topic that’s both personal and complex: religion and its growing influence on American life. We both grew up in deeply religious households, and those early teachings shaped a lot of how we saw ourselves, morality, identity, and even our relationship with God.

As we’ve gotten older, both of us have taken steps to re-examine the beliefs we were handed, asked difficult questions, and form a faith that feels more honest and aligned. We talk about how hyper-religious views can sometimes bleed into politics in ways that cause division or distract from the heart of spirituality. But this conversation isn’t about debating, it’s about reflection, honesty, and sharing space as two women still learning and unlearning.

As always, thank you for being here. I hope these episodes leave you thinking, reflecting, and feeling a little more inspired.

XOXO – Blanca
